After almost 24 straight hours of traveling, we finally arrived safe and sound at our hotel in Seoul. The girls traveled amazingly well, thy watched a ton of TV, read books, colored, and slept a tiny bit. It was after we landed that the real fun began: jet lag!
Jet lag + 3 kiddos= horrible!!!
We were seriously up ever 30-60 minutes all night long with one of the three kids. I literally felt sick from so little sleep, at moments I thought I might die. Thankfully we all survived and the jet lag passed.
Somewhere in the middle of all the jet-lagging Tyler celebrated his birthday! It was pretty miserable. We trudged around with three cranky, exhausted kids trying to find somewhere to eat with food for both adults and kids. We finally ended up at Outback. Poor Tyler, instead of a cake, he had a donut from Dunkin Donuts. I promised him I would make it up to him later!
We spent three days in Seoul, just enough time for us to check in with the Embassy and for Tyler to do some work before we headed out for our new home. Some highlights from our time in Seoul:
- Watching Hannah tell a man who pinched her cheek "Hey no toucha me!" Sorry kiddo, time to get used to it!
- Watching a man literally walking while looking backwards staring at my kids. He walked head on into a pole. Ouch.
- Our hotel had an indoor playroom. That ball pit saved my life with jet-lagged kids.
- Seeing familiar sites (base, playgrounds, Embassy) and having it feel like we never left.
- Enjoying being back in a country that we love so much.
- Having Maddie sleep in the bathtub. No joke. There was nowhere for her pack and play that was dark and quiet. And it wouldn't fit in the bathroom. So the bathtub it was. Are we the worst parents ever yet??
