Madeline is beginning the inevitable transfer from two naps a day, down to one long nap. It's a surreal change for me, as it often means several hours in the middle of the day when my little one is sleeping and my bigger ones are at school. It means an average of two hours of me time- time I don't remember having for the last five years. It also means, unfortunately, that many days I have to drag a still groggy baby from her crib to run to school and grab the older two. It's so much less complicated to be the first baby in a family! Not so many schedules to accommodate.
Today Maddie woke up earlier than she has been, and a bit grumpy. I decided to load her up and use the remaining 30 minutes before school let out to enjoy a quick stroll around the block. The weather was beautiful, and the trees are so close to blooming perfection. It is amazing to me that I could enjoy all this beauty within two blocks of my apartment. There is a road leading from the subway towards the apartments that is just lined with cherry blossom trees. It is absolutely beautiful.
You can see the trees spreading all the way up the hill.
I can't get enough of these flowers!
I can't get enough of her, either. Someone gifted her with a pinwheel near the end of the walk and she was fascinated with it.
