The boat was built by Hilter during World War II and was taken as a war prize by the US after Germany's defeat. It really was a beautiful boat, it would be unreal looking while at sea with the sails fully unfurled. We all enjoyed the tour, Hannah in particular who spent most of the time pointing over the side of the ship to the water and exclaiming, "pool! pool!"
Touring these boats always impresses me. We have toured two coast guard ships, and one huge navy ship during out time overseas and I am impressed by the boats, but more so by the dedicated individuals who serve our country. We really do owe them a huge debt of gratitude for the work that they do, that to us as American is mostly invisible.
