Nut Tree Fun

On our last day in California we took a family trip down to Nut Tree in Vacaville. Nut Tree has been around forever, I remember going there as a kid. It used to be in the middle of nowhere, really in farming country. I remember going as a kid to the pumpkin patch. They always had scarecrows and a maze made from hay. It started as a fruit stand, and quickly grew into much more.

Sadly when I was in high school they finally closed the Nut Tree. I was excited on this last visit to find out they had once again reopened the Nut Tree and we decided to take the kids down for the day. In many ways it is so much more commercialised. There is now a huge strip mall area with all the usual (Borders, Old Navy, etc), but the actual part that was the Nut Tree they have turned into a family park. There is still a market filled with local produce, and products. They restored the train that used to run around the property, and restored the merry-go-round. To that they added more rides and really made it nice and clean. The girls loved it, especially Emily who literally rode every single ride there was. It really was a fun day!

Emily was even brave enough to try the roller coaster. It turned out to be a rough, bumpy road, but what a brave girl!
