Back to School

Today was Emily's first day back at school. She was so excited she didn't sleep very well last night. She woke up and the first words out of her mouth were, "Preschool time?" She was very excited when I said yes. When we got to school she cried and didn't want me to leave (this is a fairly common routine) but as I was closing the gate behind me I heard her stop crying and launch into a dramatic retelling of Christmas to her teacher. I had to smile; I knew she was ready to get back to school. She even wanted to pose for a picture this morning.

Hannah misses Emily today. She keeps wandering around looking into bedrooms for her. Finally, though, I think she figured out what is going on. She looks quite elated now, having realized all the toys are free game. She will miss her playmate though, they have had great fun over the last several weeks.

So the holidays are officially over for us. Everyone is back to work and school. Now we just need to finish cleaning up the decorations. And then I need to get busy. I have baby blankets to sew, curtains to hem, a website to finish updating, a freelance writing project to finish. Looks like I have plenty to do!
