This year my birthday fell on a Sunday, which does not prove to be the most exciting day to have a birthday. Not that Sunday is not fun, but when we have three hours roundtrip to church, the day feels a bit long and tiring. So we chose to celebrate Saturday instead!
I kicked the day off with my first VIP event. Normally it is Tyler get to attend all the fancy-schmancy events, but this time it was the wives of the Consul Generals that were invited to a ribbon cutting for the Busan International Women's Association Christmas Bazaar. It is a huge charity event in Busan every year.
Showing that old school diplomacy is still alive and well, we even wore white gloves while cutting the ribbon.
After the ribbon cutting we got front row seats to watch one of the local international schools (not our girls') choir performance.
After my "official" duties were over we shopped a bit at the bazaar and then headed across town to a huge bookstore Tyler had stumbled across with a huge English section. Anyone who has lived overseas knows how hard it can be to find English books, and this was a real treat! The girls and I each picked a book. Then we headed back towards out house and enjoyed dinner at Kraze Burger. Kraze Burger seriously has the best hamburgers with killer what buns. Then we headed home for ice cream cake and presents. What a fun day!
