Global Gathering

Every year the city of Busan sponsors a large fair celebrating and showcasing different countries. It is a really neat representation of the international nature of the city and all the cultures and traditions that are present. Many different countries have individual booths showcasing their country through pictures, displays, food, costume, etc. Ethnic food is sold, there are performances, games, and booths for kids.

Tyler's office along with the local US Navy operation, set up a USA booth. With none of us ever attending before it was quite a feat trying to set up a booth with little to go by! It honestly, turned out fantastic and we all spent the day handing out cookies, playing USA trivia games and enjoying the other foods and cultures represented. I baked for almost two days straight for the booth- brownies, cookies, muffins! The end result was fantastic and plans are already swirling for a bigger and better USA booth next year. Look for children's activities, more American food, and more participation from other Americans here in Busan.

Tyler at the opening ceremony doing his official thing. Note the white gloves and the "button to nowhere." It's the new ribbon cutting.

Confetti set off by pushing said buttons to nowhere.

Go USA! Some random American kids we picked up to work the booth. Not really, those would be the lovely Allen girls and handsome Cruz boys. What a group!

Emily's art teacher was doing face painting for the schools booth.

The BFS mascot. His name is Beefus (not really sure how to spell that).

Life for our kids. In the middle of that throng of admirers is Madeline.

Hannah wearing a traditional headdress. Not sure from where, but I'm sure it's traditional.

Dress up booth. Very, very popular with the girls.

Tyler and Hannah and Busan Mayor Hur Nam Sik

Emily enjoying a bit of Mongolia.

Traditional Korean games.

Team USA basketball.

We survived! And will do it all again next year!

Looks like a blast! Glad there were no references to Beefus and Buthead at your fair....

Nice Job you guys. Tyler, you looked so official! Your girls must have a weird idea of what personal space is like.
