We decided to check out the sand festival that happens on the beach right by our house. It is a yearly event that includes both professional sand sculptures and also has tons of activities for kids. They could dig in the sand for coins, make crafts, even rent a pile of sand to build your own sculpture on (or you can be cheap like us and just walk down to the part of the beach not in the festival and build your castle there).
The first day of the festival was actually Friday and I decided after my jog to continue down the boardwalk with the baby to enjoy the finishing touches being put on the festival. It was neat to watch them still sculpting many of the sculptures. There were also tons of field trips and I enjoyed watching all the little kids digging and posing for pictures.
An effigy of President Roh Moo-hyun who committed suicide this week. He was actually laid to rest today. It was such a tragedy for this country. He always had the biggest smile on his face. He was president when we lived here in Seoul a few years ago.
A work in progress. I can't remember where this guy was from- India maybe? Nepal? Can't recall. Anyway neat sculpture. The hand extended out to a sign that said "Stop Wars."
Saturday we took the kids down to the beach to play and enjoy the sculptures. It ended up being really chilly and a little rainy, but the kids didn't seem to mind a bit. They all stripped down to their suits and loved playing in the sand.
Macyn and McKenna
She likes the sand much more when she doesn't have to sit in it. Walking will be good for this little one!
Our usual paparazzi. Macyn wasn't too keen on posing with this woman.
Hannah preferred to say upwind from said paparazzi.
Totoro
Emily doing the posing thing. This was her favorite one.
Close up of cool castle. I actually watched them build this on on Friday. They had a backhoe and everything.
Have we mentioned lately how much we love Busan? This beach is five minutes from our apartment. We love getting to enjoy all of this!
