Graduation

The girls' school held their graduation ceremony on the (baking hot) field this year. Graduation here includes Kindergarten (moving up to elementary school), 4th Grade (moving up to middle school), 8th Grade (moving up to high school) and 12th Grade. Wow! Thankfully all of the classes have less than 20 students so it wasn't as bad as it sounds!

Emily's class had 15 graduates this year. They all wore matching Kindergarten sized caps and gowns and did a remarkable job sitting out in the hot sun for the entire ceremony. I was quite impressed!

Emily was chosen this year to receive the Leadership Award for Kindergarten for her leadership both within the class and within the school. How proud we are of the little leader that Emily has turned into! She is such a great example and friend to everyone.

Not only did Emily graduate, but Tyler was asked to be the keynote speaker. How fun! He did a great job making it short, concise, but very appropriate for the graduates (obviously aiming for high school graduates here!).

Our little graduate

Tyler serving in his official capacity. He got to sit under a tent with other VIPs. The baby got so hot she crawled over to join him. Can't say that I blame her- get a load of those pink cheeks!

She's officially a Kindergarten graduate!

Family Shot (minus Hannah. She was off behind the school attending the Nursery class water day. She had the cool job).

(note the huge floral arrangements in the background- each of seniors was sent one of these monstrosities by their families. Good thing we likely will not be here for high school graduation- one of these would likely bankrupt us!!)

And without further ado, it's on to first grade in the fall! And I for one find it really hard to believe that I have a first grader. Where did that little skinny baby Emily go to anyway?

We've missed you guys. It's been at least a few weeks that we haven't seen you. Did you decide to bail on us here in Daegu, bite the bullet and attend a Korean Branch? :) I wouldn't blame you if you did. Actually, now that I think about it, you have not abandoned us at all, you are in the States right now right? I hope you guys are having a great time. Much love!
