Well we all fared quite well in Round One of this hurricane season. Here's hoping the rest of the season isn't too active! Hurricane Dean made it's way through here late last night/early this morning. It was kind of eerie going to bed and not really knowing what was coming our way (though we did know enough to know that we would not be experiencing a direct hit). Sometime in the middle of the night the rain and wind started and has continued on for most of today. I think we are finally on the end of the tail of the storm, so hopefully we will have some clear skies tomorrow. The most notable difference here is looking from our porch out to the ocean and seeing the huge white caps on what is normally a very calm sea. It is amazing how huge this storm is, we have literally been feeling it for 24 hours, and looking on satellite maps it is massive.
The other islands in the region sustained way more damage, but thankfully as of yet no catastrophic damages have been reported. It looks like it is now a category 3 hurricane and bearing down on Jamaica and Haiti and then into the Yucatan peninsula. They are forecasting it will be at least a category 4, if not 5, by the time it hits the Yucatan. I guess hitting the warm waters in the Caribbean sea speeds things up.
Anyway we are all fine, and hoping that somehow this monster storm changes course and just dies in the ocean!
