Emily's amazing Kindergarten teacher is pregnant with her third baby, her first boy. Those of you who know me know I love babies, and babies entering the world, and how magical and special it is. I love being able to make a simple blanket or quilt that really represents that baby and that family. With my own babies, I love nothing more than a cozy, snuggle blanket to snuggle them into. I have long given up on store bought blankets, and so love the feel of my own flannel, the size of my own quilt.
From the moment Mrs. Jolly told me she was expecting I started plotting the perfect blanket. The more the year went on, I knew I really wanted something that included all the kids in the class, who grew so excited about the new baby. I finally decided to have each child draw a square for the quilt. When I found the Eric Carle Hungry Caterpillar fabric, it all fell into place.

Front of the Quilt. My favorite block is the Lemon Head one. Emily's classmate Alp from Turkey drew it. He makes me laugh reguarly. He drew the large yellow head and then asked me in a puzzled tone "Emily Mommy, what this?" I told him I didn't know- what was it. He laughed and said "I don't know. I not remember." I almost died.
Back of the quilt with the Eric Carle panel. Don't look too carefully. . . . it's far from perfect.

I had so much fun making this quilt. . . . almost as much fun as the kids had giving it to Mrs. Jolly and baby Maddox. Emily has had an amazing year, with an amazing teacher. I liked being able to give something to show my appreciation!
